Hobgoblin Catalogue - Bodhrans
The Bodhrán is the traditional Irish Drum. Made from a round wooden frame, with an animal skin stretched over it. The bodhrán (pronounced bow-rahn) is the heartbeat of Irish traditional music, and is a hugely popular instrument. Capable of surprisingly complicated rhythms, when played well it can really lift the music. The Glenluce instruments are made for us in Pakistan, with a solid wood rim, and natural goat skin. Despite the low price, they are extremely reliable and the skins stay on well. HAND MADE BODHRANS

Waltons bodhrans are made in Dublin by that long established company, and those by Malachy Kearns are handmade in the West of Ireland. Both are very reasonably priced for genuine Irish instruments. The skins are goat, held in place with a strip of wood under the tacks, giving a very neat appearance. Michael Vignoles makes stout drums with good quality Irish made goat skins. Orkney based Eoin Belgarth makes the best bodhrans we have ever played, a must have.
