Wadebridge Festival 08
20/02/08
The Wadebridge Folk Festival will take place over the August bank holiday weekend in 2008 at various venues in Wadebridge, Cornwall, and will be organised by Hobgoblin Music.

History
After the last minute announcement by Cornwall Festivals Ltd in 2007 that they were unable to continue running the festival, Hobgoblin Music co-founder Pete McClelland, and Hobgoblin shop manager Eddy Mayhew collaborated to put together a 3 day event packed with concerts, sessions and workshops and headlined by Martin Simpson. The 2007 festival was a big hit with festival goers and local people, who were keen for a similar event to take place in 2008.

Some Feedback from 2007 festival goers:
“How can you improve on something this good?”
“Having attended at least 5 of the Wadebridge folk festivals, this was one of the best, if not the best...Looking forward to 2008"
“Excellent Weekend. Congratulations to the organisers and Stewards. Hope things continue next year.”
“Had a fab time! Thanks so much for putting it together.”

And Now...
Cornwall Festivals Ltd have confirmed that they are unable to run the festival in 2008, so Hobgoblin Music, with the encouragement of Cornwall Festivals Ltd, will be putting on the Wadbridge Folk Festival over the August bank holiday. As in 2007, but on a slightly more organised and grander scale, the festival will feature plenty of music from local bands, lots of free activities including street entertainment and pub sessions, music from several of the bands on the Hobgoblin Records label, several ceilidhs, and in addition, big name artists, to
be confirmed, to headline the main concerts.

Day and weekend season tickets will be available as soon as the main artists and venues have been confirmed, and all non-free events will be individually ticketed too. Any profit from the festival will go towards a festival for 2009.

In spite the very short-notice nature of the event in 2007, and the very little time available to publicise it, Pete McClelland and Eddy Mayhew were delighted with the attendance at the festival (which culminated with a sellout concert headlined by Martin Simpson) and with the encouragement and offers of support from many in the local community. Acting as non-profit making festival organisers, the Hobgoblin Music team are honoured to have been asked by so many to organise the festival in 2008, and dedicated to making it even better than the 2007 festival.

Further information will follow when the headlining artists have been confirmed, and when the tickets go on sale.
